Community acupuncture

Community acupuncture, (known by people’s community acupuncture collective) originally pop-up style in 2019 and early 2020, has been offered regularly since late 2021, and continues to be held on wednesday and saturday afternoons, located at movement collective, 3921 st. claude ave.

Qigong instruction

Ask about scheduling private individual or group sessions.

Qigong classes are for all levels of experience, and adaptable to any mind-b0dy focus or ability level.

Qi gong is a slow-moving exercise for energy cultivation, mind-body alignment, meditation, and building strength and wellness. these exercises can be modified to suit individual concerns and capabilities. Students will, over 4-6 classes, learn a routine for a daily 15-25 minute practice.

separately scheduled qigong classes cost $50 tuition for a one-on-one class, or for group classes tuition is $25 per student attending.

regarding in-office appointments: THE office AT sT. FERDINAND has adopted a system of health-mindfulness to prevent and contain communicable disease, outlined below. please read this and help by following these guidelines.

  • Before meeting for the appointment, if either client or practitioner feel flu-like or Covid-19-related symptoms (fever over 100.4 degrees F, chills, fatigue, dry cough, breathing difficulty, loss of taste or smell) please contact (504) 223-3507, and we will reschedule as needed. 

  • it is not necessary to arrive to your appointment wearing a mask or face covering. however, on request, or in the event of a new public health concern, meetings at tree of life may be conducted with PPE (masks and/or gloves). a facemask can be provided for anyone who needs one.   

please take note: appointments are available for tele-health meetings for herbal consults or self-care training. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us all keep a little healthier!

COMMUNITY ACUPUNCTURE:

doors open at 1pm on tuesdays, 2pm on saturdays. appointments are required for community acupuncture. ear acupuncture only is available for walk-in clients. cost for community acupuncture is by sliding scale (pay what you can within this range), $25-45. cost for ear acupuncture only is $5-10 sliding scale.

it is not required to wear a face mask, but ppe masks are welcome, and can be provided for anyone who wishes to wear one. at these events, social distance is enforced, and chairs are placed not less than eight feet apart.

loose-fitting clothes, or short sleeved shirts and shorts are the appropriate attire to wear to community acupuncture, to facilitate access to points on the arms and legs.

community acupuncture is by appointment only. we now offer certain alternate tcm therapies at community acupuncture. these therapies may be prescribed for individuals depending on their tcm diagnosis: cupping, gua sha, electric-stimulated acupuncture.

basic dietary and lifestyle guidelines will be available to all participants.

*Movement collective, the venue for tree of life community acupuncture sessions, is a multi-use studio. other activities happening there include kung fu, tai chi, physical training sessions, etc. (the space is not used for any other activities when community acupuncture is in session.)
